English Skills for Life
This course offers ESOL and literacy training, through English for
work, Literacy support, work experience and IT. Learners work towards a
recognised qualification.
Learners work with the Employability Trainer to enhance their
employment skills and identify areas they need to work on. All learners
write a CV, undertake related project work and have the option of a
work placement. They are also given help in applying for jobs and other
courses.
The majority of the Springboard Hackney staff team
speak a second language and learners have access to language support
and interpreters where necessary.
The course normally takes around 24-26 weeks to complete. The time
needed to achieve a qualification varies according to individual
learner needs. During the course, learners attend work placements 1.5
days a week for a minimum of 4 weeks. There are many opportunities for
placements in different working environments, including: nurseries,
museums, shops, hairdressers, residential homes, driving work,
restaurant/cafe work and factory work. These placements allow learners
to gain practical skills and experience in the real world of work.

Elementary ( written and spoken) /Pitman's Intermediate/CLAIT
